You should first use Find to search the drive(s) for anything related to the
mystery firewall.
Then use Find in the registry to see if it comes up with anything related.
When using find, use any/every name you can think of that is related to it.

You could also try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to see if there is any
reference and remove it, link to utility in article.

go to start\settings\control panel\add or remove programs

locate McAfee Privacy Wall

select remove then the product should begin uninstalling.
Follow the prompts that appear on the screen

I did all of the below, including running the clean up tool. I still can't
find it. As to Diablo's suggestion, I'm not sure what that has to do with
Authentium products. Or was that an expression of dislike for McAfee?

Yes, that is who they are bundled with....I did remove all the McAffee stuff,
with their own removal tool...I don't much care for McSpyware either...But
that damn Authentium stuff is still there...Both the Firewall and the
Antivirus...Sheesh...If only I could control it...

The article was nice and the URL survived intact....

However, neither of the steps will work for me. There is no sign of the
program that proflegated
this software in any directory or file. I even emailed Authentium Product
Support, but got an even more
useless reply than I got from AOhelL They referred me to two vendors who use
their software. However, neither
of them has products (soft or hard) that I have ever used. I did find a
Trend Micro thing in one of the Doccuments
and Settings folder. However the most recent access date on it was some time
in 2004....
Now I'm getting really frustrated...I would switch to Netscape Internet
Service, but I am sure it is just a front for Earth Stink.

Bugger all tends to discribe the situation. You would think that a big
company like Authentium
would make a tool to find their own software? Right now, I've tried every
trick I know and there
is just no sign of the program or even the dll's for it.

Oh well, I guess World Peace would be easier to find than this damn firewall.

Is there any folder/app named Curtains present anywhere? Curtains is an Auhtentium
product w/firewall.
Is there any files named authfw.exe, authstart.exe?

The biggest problem is the app is used widely by many companies and it's not easy
finding straight forward answers on it. Start here and change the search wording for

no results...
I'm hopeful that this last one will do the trick. I'm not too eager to have
to reinstall Windows and start over again.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this hidden Authentium stuff? I'm
having the same problem, and both Earthlink and Authentium have no clue
what to do other than a restore :(
