USB (Skype) Voip Phone keypad not functional, driver errors.

computers. None will work on mine other than the led and sound - the keypads
won't function. All show 'disconnected'. New Hardware screen each time on
startup looks for drivers but can't find any on the relevant disc for the
phone or anywhere else and so I have to use the skype screen on the PC to
dial and disconnect etc. I have the skype latest download. Friends who also
have XP are puzzled too as to why none of the phones have keyboard
functionality on my pc.
My Windows XP is on auto update, so I assume all the drivers must be up to
date?
I've seen this question elsewhere here on search but the date of it was last
May and there were no replies. PLEASE can someone advise as to what the
problem is and how I might go about correcting it. I (and friends) have been
unsuccessfully trying to work out whats wrong for the last week. We've
uninstalled, reinstalled, reupgraded, redownloaded, searched google for help,
searched microsoft under voip and skype (but keep coming up with Windows CE,
not XP) etc and its driving me mad :-)
What we do get from skype phone product description is the following:
"Drivers support and upgrades from Microsoft. The drivers of the USB VoIP
Series are provided by Microsoft Windows, thus no additional drivers are
required. Drivers are currently available in Microsoft Windows 98SE/ME/2K/XP.
Plug-and-Play, Grab-and-Go."
I've got an alcatel speedtouch 330 usb modem (through landline, not cable).
I've bought a usb hub to try to sort it out, and swapped the printer, the
modem, the cardreader and the phone from hub to different usb ports in an
effort to see if its to do with the usb ports. I don't know if it is, but in
any case nothing makes any difference.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could advise what the problem is and how to
put it right. Thanks :-)

Disconnect the phone keypad, start Windows.
Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager.
_Uninstall_ any USB ports on you computer.
Restart the computer and let XP re-install the drivers for USB,
re-boot.
Plug in your phone keypad and see if XP finds & loads the drivers.

Thank you for taking the time to reply :-)
I was offline yesterday so picked up your message this morning and followed
your instructions. Sadly (and infuriatingly given the frustrating refusal of
my pc to accept usb phones this last week) that didn't work either.
After trying a couple of times your way, I then uninstalled the phone's
driver (which in the folder was called BT_EX.dll) as well as disconnecting
the phone and tried your way again a couple of times. Nothing will persuade
my pc to let me use a keypad on the phone.
What I have noticed is that the phone remains identically semi-functional
(light on and sound with skype, but non functioning keys) without the disc's
driver installed, and I wonder why the driver to this phone, and those to my
friends' phones, can't be recognised.
One of the friends phones was a cyberphone K, the other a yamamoto and mine
is the @Phone, all of which behave beautifully on anyone else's PCs - even
on one friend's PC which is far older and not really up to the specs they say
is needed for the phones.
Its gone past being a mystery now, its becoming an obsession fuelled by
irritation LOL.
I don't suppose you have any other ideas as to what might be wrong? Willing
to try anything, possibly even to the point of computicide :-)
Seriously, thanks again for trying to help, its much appreciated and, at
least for that 20mins between reading your reply and the actual attempt at
"...plug in your phone and see if..", there was a period of well needed
euphoria thinking
"YES! The phone is going to work THIS time"
before being cast back once again into the land of the voip rejection
society LOL.

If not you will have to install a driver again.
When you say Semi- functional does that mean you can still make Skyoe ohone
calls to anyone on your call list?
I have anther problem. Windows XO spasmodically deletes my USB settings in
the Skype options and puts Windows default. how can I stop this happening.
otherwise I'll join DeeDee in computorcide!!!
