"Q: How is Slimjet related to Google Chrome?

Both Slimjet and Chrome are based on the same Chromium
open-source project. Therefore, Slimjet and Chrome will
have *quite similar* user interface." <===

"In addition to the main Windows 7 – 10 version, <=== Chromium 70 maybe
there's also versions for Linux and a
special version for Windows XP and Vista users." <=== Hahaha Chromium 49

"The Slimjet browser is made by Flashpeak who also make the Trident engined
SlimBrowser and Slimjet's predecessor, SlimBoat. Slimjet has been around
since 2014 and during that time has developed into one of the most feature
and function rich Chromium based browsers available.

slimjet browser

While Slimjet doesn't contain anything groundbreaking, <=== Aha!
it is stuffed full of very useful features that aren't
in the standard Chrome/Chromium. All of these add up to
make a browser which should have something for average
and advanced users alike.

The built-in ad blocker is a welcome inclusion and should
have broad appeal as will the memory optimization functions,
which actually do seem to work.

The proxy manager is good for quickly changing between different
proxy addresses and the resumable download manager is a handy addition.

Would someone please explain why to use or not use a portable version of
SlimJet.

Thank you.

In my experience, portable versions of any programs have not been a
problem. A portable browser or email client has some advantages, since
you can install it on a thumb drive, and run it from there on any
compatible machine.

Another advantage is that it doesn't install anything, so there is less
chance of messing up your system. I say that because some program
installations and uninstallations can, and occasionally do, mess up a few
things. That said, I normally prefer to use the installer versions for most
programs, and just keep a system image backup, just in case things go awry.
