I keep getting a message DLL can not be opened on start
up. What should I do?

Since you don't say which DLL can't be opened, it's hard
to say what the problem might be. You can always use the
XP CD's to repair your current installation, but that
will likely only address XP DLL's.

If you can get the name of the DLL, do a Google search on
it to determine the software that uses it. You may be
able to simply reinstall that software or replace the DLL
through XP's safe mode.

Please post the exact error message and the name of the DLL.
Otherwise we have no idea on how to answer your question.

>Hey,

That is all it says. DLL can not be opened. There
was a message before that that said "The application or
DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\VXDIF.DLL is not a valid windows
image." I deleted the file VXDIF.DLL and that one went
away. The DLL can not be opened message remained.

The DLL you deleted is probably being called from the registry and
that's why you're receiving the error. The previous message you
received stated it was not a valid Windows image indicates the file
was either corrupt or possibly not XP compatible.

A quick lookup using Google says that VXDIF.DLL is an Alps trackpoint
file. Are you by chance using a notebook computer with a trackpad?
If so, you might want to re-install your trackpad software from the
manufacturers CD.

Regards.
