This is odd. I'm trying to install XP Pro on a new drive. It was going along
fine, but asked me to insert a CD. It gives me a choice of Win OS products.
Why do I need to do this? It's already there. I just took it out, put it
back in and got the same results? Is it looking for some prior install CD to
verify I purchased an earlier OS?

That's exactly what it's looking for, if you're installing an upgrade version of Windows XP.

Thats' because you also have an old drive in the PC with XP on it.

It isn't clear exactly what you're doing, but here's a guess: you're
trying to install an *upgrade* version of XP, but you don't have a
previous version installed. It is therefore looking for proof that you
own a previous version by asking you to insert its CD.
