Does anyone know how to "install" the old 9x themes in XP? My favorite theme was always the science theme and I would love to have
it back in XP.

Thanks!

I used to have them working on Windows 2000 when I had upgraded from 98 with
the themes installed. You could give that a try.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm totally against upgrading. I did a clean install of XP and that's the way I want to keep it.
I'm thinking there must be a way to "install" the old themes in XP.

I cannot offer a way to install the old Win 98 Plus! theme in Windows XP, but
you may want to consider the new feature-rich Plus! for Windows XP program.
Microsoft recently reduced the price to $29.95.

You can copy the contents of the old 'Plus!' folder from your Win98
installation to your XP installation. But then you'll have to manually
choose the elements of the theme through Cursors, Appearance, Screen Saver,
Background, etc. I don't think the full Theme installation in one step is
possible from the old Win98 themes files.

Karine,
Assuming all the files are in the same place on the two systems, they should
work - they do on my system. Worse case, you may need to move and modify the
.THEME files - you can use NotePad to modify them. I'm finding all my
c:\program files\plus!\themes\ .THEME files also in the
c:\windows\resources\ folder.

All I had to do was copy the whole themes folder over to any location of my choice and then browse to it to select the theme and it
worked perfectly.

Thanks!
