SFC /SCANNOW - WINDOWS FILES PROTECTION

In December 2009 I did a "clean install" using CD #3 from Dell.
Because I was having problems with My Music (Icould not play any of the
songs) I decided to run SFC /SCANNOW and getting the following messages:
"WINDOWS FILES PROTECTION
Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the
DLL cache.
Insert your Windows XP Home SP 3 now".
I inserted Dell CD #3.
And again I got another message:
"WINDOWS FILE PROTECTION
The CD you provided is the wrong CD. Please insert the Windows XP Home SP3
CD into your CD-ROM drive"
And again I for the same messages listed above.

I had received from Dell, at different times, 3 CDs:
#1.-Operating System.-Reinstallation CD.-Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
including Service Pack 1
#2.-Operating System.-Already installed on your computer.-Microsoft XP Home
Edition Service Pack 2
#3.-Operating System.-Already installed on your computer.-Microsoft XP Home
Edition Service Pack 3 for Ultra Low Cost Pcs.
As I mentioned at the beginning, CD #3 was used for "clean install".
Please let me know what should I do to correct the problems.

#2 & #3 are simply the service pack disks
You cannot have done a clean install with #3

I believe you are suggesting that I perform another "clean install". Am I
right?
If that is the case, could you tell me how to perform a "complete clean
install"?
The reason I am asking you is that I have performed 2 "clean installs"
during the last 4 years and I have found duplicate folders and files in the
system.
Please let me know how to perform a "complete clean install".

finally disk 3#

What a good opportunity to make life easier later.
Create a new XP installation CD with SP3 slipstreamed into it using
instructions that work. Save all your old CDs for a rainy day.
Someday later, if you think sfc /scannow is needed or you just want to
run it for the heck of it, it will actually work as expected.
After you get your clean install and all with SP3, you can use your
new XP SP3 installation CD to install the XP Recovery Console on your
HDD as a boot option for the off day when XP decides to become
cantankerous..

It sounds like #3 is a full installation CD to me (at the SP3 level). OP
should confirm.
BTW, this is a photo of the Dell XP Pro installation CD (at SP3 level):

I am pretty sure that the only Dell XP Home installation CDs (at SP3
level) are indeed the ones that accompany netbooks (AKA "ultra low cost
PCs).

To OP:
*If* you must perform a Clean Install, you might as well mike your life
easier and use Disk #3 (assuming it is what I think it is).

Just make sure that you *really* perform a Clean Install. :-)
From your other post, it looked like you had performed a few parallel
installs, which are not the same thing. Basically, you need to delete
*all* the partitions (make sure your data is all backed up!!!), create a
new partition and format it, and *then* install XP. I believe this guide
