Everytime I switch off my computer (Win XP Pro) the following shut-down error
/ running programme box appears:

CL RC Engine3 Dummy Winidow

(Note : it is either Engine3 or Engine 3 (with or without the spacing ) And
it is WINIDOW and not window)

What is it & how do iI get rid of it?

Do some clean boot troubleshooting to try to isolate what's causing it.
Does it happen in safe mode?

I have a 2 year-old ACER Aspire 1640 laptop with XP loaded and I got the
same error message when rebooting this morning.
y computer has been acting up the last few days and the CD/DVD burner
works 1 in 6 times...and the drive continues to display the disc as
being in place when it has been removed. Why do I think this is
connected to the above problem. And yes; it is win-*i*-dow - with the
incorrect extra 'i'; and that makes me VERY VERY suspsicious of an
intrusion.

I'm about to run all my malware detectors to see fi one of them finds
it (hey don't always agree!)

I think my suspicions were well-founded. I had a lot of trouble after I
posted that comment and ran all my spyware/anti-virus programs (Avast;
SpywareDoctor and Spy bot Search and Destroy and CCcleaner). Between
them they found over 600 infected files and after a total cleanout
(including the registry) with all of them I haven't had that error
window again.

I see that no one has replied in almost a year! I hope that changes
because I too have the "CL RC Engine3 Dummy Winidow" issue. And yes I
agree with your spelling!

Using Spy++ I found that this window is associated with PDVDDXSRV which
in turn is from CyberLink PowerDVD. I am doing their online update to
see if that helps.

While this may come as no surprise to you, your advice
