On my computer, several file types are associated with GOM player. Up until
tonight, double clicking any of those files would bring it up in GOM
player. Now it doesn't do anything. If I right click the file and click
"Open" it won't do anything. If I pick "Open With" and choose GomPlayer
then it works. If I choose "Choose Program" it is already associated with
GOM. So I change that to Media Player Classic. That works fine and if I
double click an associated file it opens in Media Player Classic. So I go
back and change it to GOM again. It still doesn't work. I uninstalled and
reinstalled GOM. Still doesn't work. So I decided to restore my computer
back to yesterday's settings. Now the Help and Support Center won't open.

What did I do prior to this? I downloaded and installed Revo Uninstaller
and used it to uninstall ICQ 6.x. Why that would affect associations in GOM
player I have no idea. I haven't had Help & Support open for a long time so
I can't say for sure that Revo had anything to do with that.

Is there any other way to get to System Restore other than through the Help
& Support Center?

OK. I kind of lucked out here. Since I hadn't rebooted my computer since I
did the Revo uninstall thing, I rebooted and used "Last Known Good
Configuration". It cured the association problem and also Help & Support
Center will open.

My next move will be to UNINSTALL the Revo Uninstaller. And I will use
Add/Remove Programs to do that! :-)

And presumably you selected the "always use this program" option.

Gotta be a bit careful with Revo. But it sure comes in handy sometimes.

Obviously. Why would you have to go out of the way to get it there?? It
should be somewhere in your programs (or its subfolders) menu. If not, you
can create a shortcut to it.

System Restore is located at (I'm pasting directly the shortcut below, but
you can, and probably should, create your own on your own system):

%SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

(Hate to break the news to you, but its lifetime is a bit limited, already.
