I've a piece of third-party software that requires the Visual FoxPro ODBC
driver. I've attempted to configure this via the ODBC Data Source
Administrator. The first attempt to Add the Visual FoxPro Driver in the
System DSN tab resulted in a message box that said "You must first install
the current version of the Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver. Go to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/downloads. Select Product Updates, then
Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver".

Once I figured out that it was the "vfpoledb.exe" file I was supposed to
download, I did so and ran the installer - which appeared to complete
normally (the Application Event Viewer indicates success as well).

However, I still cannot add this in the System DSN tab OR the User DSN tab -
I keep getting the same "you must first install..." message.

Am I missing something? If so, what might it be?

Thanks in advance!

Oh, I guess I should mention that I'm running XP Pro with SP2.

I would suggest posting this in one of the Visual FoxPro Developer
newsgroups - the gurus there I'm sure will have a quick and precise
response.
microsoft.public.fox.vfp.dbc would be where I'd start.

Hi SnowCritter,

Do you see the Visual FoxPro driver listed in the Drivers tab of your ODBC
setup dialog? Is it version 6.01.8629.01? That's the latest and it's
downloadable from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/downloads/updates/odbc/default.aspx . Can
you try reinstalling with the download from that page.
