Clean Install of XP Professional (previously Win98 SE)

I have a Dell Dimension XPS B1000R running a PIII at
1GHz. Originally, the system came loaded with Windows
98SE. I have put in a new hard drive and did a clean
install of XP Professional with no apparant problems. So
here is the (potentially dumb) question: when re-
installing Windows 98SE, I had to also load an "820
chipset driver" otherwise the machine would not
necessarily function properly. The driver is said to be
for Windows 95 and Windows 98. There does not seem to be
a driver for either Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Does this
mean that one is not needed for these operating systems?

Dell will only answer questions about hardware. Does
anyone know? I know that I do not.

it's possible, and I'm not sure of this, that xp may have a built-in driver
for the 820 board.

Yes - the needed drivers come as part of the XP system. That chipset
came out after Win98, so it had to have the driver supplied separately
