I want to block some websites such as MySpace on the internet. I follow the
directions on the help screen but the sites are still accessible, unless I go
to content and enable the content advisor, but then ALL sites are being
blocked. Anyone know what I should do?

If this is for family use, consider software like CyberSitter or NetNanny.
You'll get a lot of very specific control.

The easiest way is to edit your hosts file.

For XP this is located in the

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc folder.

Instruction are in the file comment block, but basically to block a website
add a new line. For example, to block (say) google add:

127.0.0.1 www.google.com

When a URL is entered, explorer first looks in hosts for the IP address and
if it finds it, uses it. The IP address 127.0.0.1 always resolves to the
machine you are looking at, thus the URL effectively fails.

Of course, the person you are wanting to restrict access may know how to
edit the hosts file as well.

Why do you want to block MySpace? It's a great resource.

You also forgot to reply to the thread instead of starting a new one.

Your post doesn't make any sense (because there is no context).

Checking your posting headers, you appear to be replying to JD in this
thread:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/browse_frm/thread/44b9341a0d562537/0aa3f11e7f8568c8

So, why don't you just start from the beginning?
