Copy/paste does not work in any application

I have XP SP2, with which I use Office 2003 applications as well as IE and
Firefox. For the last few days I noticed that the Copy and Paste functions do
not work AT ALL, no matter what application I'm copying from or pasting into,
or whether it be text, graphics, spreadsheet cells, etc. Windows acts like it
copies, but when I go to paste it just enters a blank space. I cannot figure
out for the life of me what has happened. I didn't install any new software,
I ran Spybot, tried reinstalling Firefox and removing extensions, all to no
avail.

Oh, by the way, this also just happened on my other PC, a laptop running
Windows 2000 with Office 2003 and Firefox. I can't find a solution online.
Can anyone help? Thank you!

This has to do with some application that's having a lock over the Windows
Clipboard. David Candy's application should determine the Process that's
causing the problem.

Download GetOpenClipboardWindow.zip from here:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/temp/GetOpenClipboardWindow.zip

Unzip and run the tool. Post back what it reports. For best results, run
this utility during the time you encounter the Copy<=>Paste problem.

I am experiencing the exact same problem, and, like you, it just started
recently, like a few days ago. I don't have any indication what's going on.
Odd part is that I am also running Office 2k3, and the Office Clipboard
works. It's just that the regular windows clipboard does not. I downloaded
and tried the program you suggested, and it reported no problems. Any other
ideas?

Me too but I am NOT using MS-Office. Any answer would be a help. Email

Me too. Restart system and copy and paste works until I open Internet
Explorer. Then any copy that was active before produces a space
wherever I paste it - Notebook, Word, browser,wherever. Have tried the
utility above but says that clipboard is working OK.

Has anyone cracked this yet? I would hate to have to re-install....!!!!

Windows SP2 completely updated. AV installed. Spysweeper active. Why is
IE making this happen?
