First thing always "todo" is Back on your XP to D:\partition(2)
So you can do a Reinstall of A New XP in C:\partition(1) if needed,
If the install of Windows 98 Do not work we can always go back to XP...

Before Formatting C:\

Do not Format the DRIVE "0"
BUT partition(1)C:\
Do not Format partition(2)D:\

Real-Mode CD-ROM support
=================================
The Windows 98 Startup Disk includes generic ATAPI IDE & SCSI CD-ROM
drivers that allow your CD-ROM to function at MS-DOS

Now you need Guy 98
to help you partition(1)C:\

If you help with a Windows XP

There are no drivers for Win9x/ME for the D620. Only Win2k, WinXP and
Vista.

FU set to; microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion

Although I've already told the OP (in m.p.w98.gd because the OP
apparently multi-posted) that there are no win-98 drivers for the Intel
945GM / 945PM chipset (the chipset found in the D620), for the sake of
providing complete information I will mention here that several people
have taken the Intel driver Chipset Software Installation Utility
(Version: 6.3.0.1007 - Nov 2004) and have added or modified certain inf
files to include support for

- ICH7 chipsets 945/946/975/955/31/41
- Q963, Q/P/G965 and 925X/XE

This still may not do any good for someone with the mobile version of
the 945 chipset.

The 6.3.0.1007 version of the Intel file includes win-9x/me support for
915/915M chipset, and supposedly Intel withdrew either the availability
of this version of their utility, or removed win-98 support for 915/915M
in later releases of the utility.

A direct download link for these enhanced drivers is here:

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/19/2010361/INFW9X.rar

The rar file is password protected.

The password is "a" (no quotes).
