When I install this 'patch' from Microsoft, it self installs. What else am
I supposed to do? I cannot see where is has done anything. Can I assume I
did not have the worm?

Paul,
That's all it does, it installs updated files and registry keys for
ole32.dll, rpcrt4.dll and rpcss.dll.
