I have a Dell Dimension 8200 with XP SP2, with DSL connection. I have
AVG antivirus free version 7.5, Comodo firewall, Spyware Blaster and
Hive Cleanup and all work well with no conflicts and I haven't added
anything to my computer.

Previously my Live Messenger use to sign in automatically whenever I
booted up my computer but I've noticed that recently that after trying
a number of times it fails and requires me to click the icon which
then proceeds to login with no problem. It never did this before and I
shouldn't have to click the icon. I would appreciate it if anyone
could help me correct this minor problem.

Thanks,

Robert

You can post your query to this Windows Live Messenger-specific newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windows.live.messenger

On the web:

I went to the links provided but they didn't offer anything except
that others are experiencing a new problem e.g. that Live Messenger
doesn't sign in at all now and gives an error code of 81000314 and
there doesn't seem to be a solution. I now cannot sign in to Live
Messenger either and have the same error code of 81000314 and have
tried rebooting and turning the system off and then back on and tried
rebooting, nothing works. One person asked is Live Messenger corrupted
but no one seems to reply to any of the questions. I would appreciate
any thoughts/suggestions.

Thanks,

Robert

The problem is on their end, not yours. When Microsoft fixes the problem,
we'll all be able to get in.

I wouldn't be nearly as frustrated if the 'network status' page didn't report
that everything was stable and running!

Microsoft has apparently fixed the error problem as my Live Messenger
just snapped on. I still have the issue of it not logging in
successfully when booting up however.

Maybe Windows Live (not Microsoft) hasn't addressed all of the problems
created by the outage on 10 Sept-08, Robert (cf.
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.live.messenger/msg/a9c58c40881eafbc).

Your best bet for support would still be in the WLMessenger newsgroup.

I posted my problem on the newsgroup you suggested but no one has
replied.
