Is it possible to access posts/threads older than 90 days easily, and to
search by username.

Yes, via Google Groups
(http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/topics)
and possibly via the web-forum interface

Yes. Far and away the easiest and best way to do this is with Google
Groups Advanced Search. http://groups.google.com/advanced_search?q=&
