I am running XP Professional Edition. For my logon, the
taskbar is the usual one line, with clock on right. For
the main user's logon on the same computer, the taskbar
is double height and will not reduce to one line. You
can increase the size line by line, or make it disappear
altogether, but not one line. The taskbar has 5 icons in
the applications section and 5 icons in the quick launch
bar. Both logon's use the same programs. As you pull
the double arrow across the one line, the double taskbar
stays up until you get to the bottom and the taskbar
disappears althogether.

taskbar" sentence does not have a check beside it, if it
does, click it and then u can change the height.

Can take some doing, but try sliding the dividers between Quick Launch
icons and others to the left or right, so that they take up less space.
Also be sure the that the taskbar is not locked (in
right-click|PROPERTIES).

Hi Joel,

This can happen by opening Accessibility Options, etc. If the icons on the
Quick Launch bar are showing as being larger, it will result in the taskbar
being twice its height and also include the date or similar under the clock.

If this is the case, right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/
Advanced. Under the Item drop box choose Caption Buttons and change the
number by one, ok your way out, then rest to 25.

And/or reset your default to the XP Theme.

Other options to consider if the above doesn't help, nor moving the glider
over toward the Start Button.

Restore the Taskbar to Default Functionality (Line 164)

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
