Description
We are seeking an experienced Windows Development Manager to help drive new
product development, QA, and product maintenance for our product family.
Under the direction of the VP of Products, the Windows Development Manager
will ensure that product development projects are performed with the highest
standards and in a timely manner. The Windows Development Manager will work
closely with Product Management, Product Support, and the two company Chief
Scientists.
The Development Manager will be able to communicate well with others
specifically concerning Windows programming and design issues, offer
possible solutions to complex problems and provide technical and process
leadership for the developer and QA teams.
This position requires specific experience in managing Windows application
development projects. Desired skills include:
a.. Hands-on experience working with one or more of the following:
a.. Windows OS kernel level development
b.. MFC development in C++
c.. MMC SDK
b.. Overall strong experience developing multithreaded applications to run
under NT/XP.
c.. Systems administration experience in Windows or working knowledge of
IT operations
d.. Familiarity with Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery, etc. is
highly desirable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
a.. Development Methodology and Process Leadership:
a.. Provide technical and process leadership for a team of 5 - 10
developers and 3 - 6 QA engineers in the form of architecture guidance,
design and code reviews, estimation and planning assistance
b.. Effectively manage the product development life cycle
c.. Ensure effective results via appropriate documentation and best
practices.
b.. Project Management
a.. Provide clear visibility into project status, risks, and schedules;
provide and manage realistic schedules for projects based upon scope, risk
and resources
b.. Set priorities for team according to schedules and release dates and
requirements from other departments and customers.
c.. Management & Supervision
a.. Directly supervise the development and QA teams. Responsibilities
include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning,
and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining
employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
b.. Build the development and QA teams as needed to accommodate further
product development
c.. Listen to and communicate problems or issues relating to specific
team members
