I attempted to do a build of an SLX file that I recently created with
the Evaluation version. I first did an update.
On almost every component (mainly Microsoft-supplied components, I get
the warning:
R: Warning 1116: Building unreleased component: .. followed by
component name.
Here is an excerpt form the Build log file:
R: Building: "Indexing Service [Version 5.1.2600.2180, R2890]"...
R: Warning 1116: Building unreleased component: "Indexing Service

I was also getting this error with the Evaluation version, after
initially not getting it.
I installed the licensed version on a new PC that had never had the
Evaluation version installed.
I have searched Help and The MSoft Knowledge base, but can find no
information about this warning message. I have read the help page on
how to release a component, but it makes no sense to me that all these
components would not be "released."
Thanks in advance.

The updates he installed have nothing to do with it.
Michael: Did you save the SLX in XML format then re-open it? If so,
that's the problem - there's a known issue in Target Designer where
saving the configuration in XML format removes the Released flag from
all the instances in the config. Re-opening it in TD and trying to
build results in the 1116 errors you're seeing.
