I've been trying to customize Windows XP, and i recently changed the startup sound using control panel>sounds>clicking on the sound tab>going down to windows startup sound and browsing through to the sound i wanted. The sound i select does play on startup, but there' some other sound the plays at the same time and i can't figure out what it is or how to get rid of it. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a Soundblaster Audigy card with the full setup of drivers etc? If so it's probably the creative sound. I had the same problem myself. It doesn't show up in sounds but can be turned off somewhere in the creative program (sorry can't remember where).

Yes, i have the audigy exactly as you described it. I'll be looking for the program that allows me to shut off that sound. In the meantime, if you remember what program it is, let me know. Thanks for the tip-
