Is there a way to bring an app up at startup and have it minimized to the tray?

Right click the shortcut | Properties | Shortcut tab |
Run: Select Minimized | Apply | OK
[[Specifies how you want the window to display this item when you open the
shortcut: in a standard window, in a full screen (maximized), or as a button
on the taskbar (minimized).]]

Or if the shortcut already exists in the Startup folder | Select Minimized
for that shortcut

Place the shortcut or a copy in >>
C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
or
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

To start a program each time you start Windows
[[Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties.
On the Start Menu tab, click Classic Start menu, and then click Customize.
This changes the style of the Start menu.
Click Advanced.
In the Start Menu folder, find the shortcut to the program you want to start
each time you start Windows, and drag it to the Startup folder located in
the Programs folder.
Where?
Documents and Settings\User name\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Hi,

Add it here after the comma under Shell: Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
