I have a problem, well we all do. I have 40 gigs of hard
drive space on my system. about 19-21 gigs for music and
movies. but now i need Win 98 because of my school work.
Could you please help me with an the dual boot
instruction/steps/process.PLS. My system already has
Windows XP installed on it.

This will be a bit more difficult than if you started
with Win98. Win98 requires its boot sector be in the
front of your hard drive (in the first 2GB or something).
WinXP does not have this limitation.

If I was doing this, I'd probably opt to reformat the
entire disk and re-create the partitions. I'm not sure if
there's an easier way.

1. You need to create a partition at the beginning of
your hard drive. Make it a primary partition. WinXP and
any other drives should be in extended partitions after
the Win98 one.
2. Install Win98 FIRST on the first partition (C:\).
3. Then install WinXP on the extended partition (D:\).
WinXP will make a boot loader for you during the install
process and you can select the OS at boot up.
4. Your music and stuff goes on another partition (E:\)
if you have created it.

There might be other ways to do this if you don't want to
erase your data. Probably if you can put Win98 in front,
then you just have to make a boot.ini in WinXP, without
reinstalling everything.

Also, be sure to back up your important documents and
stuff before you perform any major operations with your
hard disk.
