XPHome - I like to use distributed computing
screensavers, for example, SETI@Home. I would like to
set the logon screen screensaver to use one of these.
Problem is that most of these require a background
program to be running. I tried to get SETI working by
running a scheduled task to "Run at sytem startup", and
then changing the logon screensaver in the registry, but
that didn't work - acts the same as when you try to run
the SETI screensaver without the background application
running (the screen flickers when the screensaver tries
to start and then the screensaver clock resets). Any
ideas on how to get this app running in the background so
that when no-one is logged in I am using my processor
power to actually do something?

Set the default screensaver:

Try changing the registry value at:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop

"SCRNSAVE.EXE" -- Change it's value from "logon.scr" to the "*.scr" file you
want to be active.

Also, you should be able to change the timeout here as well.
