Does anyone know how to automatically logon to Windows
XP? In Windows 2000, NT, and 9x, you could always use
the "Windows Family Logon" option under Network
Neighborhood to do this. Hence, when you started your
computer, you were logged without being prompted for a
password for a username. Is this possible in XP?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Kurt

How to enable Auto Logon:

1. Download the Tweak UI PowerToy from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

2. Once Installed, open Tweak UI and click on Logon>Autologon

3. Put a check next to Log on automatically at system startup

4. Type your user name and Domain (If you do not connect to a domain then
type your computer's name)

5. Click Set password. Type you password and then type it again to confirm.
Click OK

6. Click Apply

Hi Kurt,

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Thank you Kelly.

I thought that "Richards" scenario was going to work, but
it did not (it gave the old style login).

Your's worked!

Thank you so much.

Kurt
