Hi all,

When i start up my computer, i want the password prompt
field displays automatically on the welcome screen
without me clicking on my computer name, who is the only
user on the computer ( no guess account or so ). Does
anyone know how to do it?

In fact, when i first install XP, the password field did
automatically show up on the welcome screen without my
clicking on my computer name. I forget what i did but
starting from last week or earlier, the startup and logon
screen require me to click on my name to have the
password field show up. Becasue i need to log on/off my
computer quite often, this really bothers me. Please help.

Thanks all,
Victor

Hi Victor,

This was probably due to the .Net Framework update. Delete the user it
added.

Thanks, Kelly

But in fact, under the control panel-->user account,
there is only 2 computer accounts display there. One is
my computer name as "Computer administrator Password
protected", and the other one is Guest as "Guest account
is off". The only option to the guest account is to "Turn
on the Guest Account". What should i do?

Thanks again.

You are welcome, Victor.

This will only happen if you have no other users listed on the Welcome
Screen, including the System Admin account and the Guest account. The Guest
account must be disabled.

You can use TweakUI for XP to uncheck accounts on the Welcome Screen under
Logon. http://tinyurl.com/h8zs

Kelly,

Thanks. I have downloaded the software, but actually, the
welcome screen only shows one account, which is my
account. No other account i can click on. That's why i
don't want any clicking to have the password field pop
up.

I don't know how i can do that with the Tweak UI package.
Can u guide me?

This is very odd, Victor. If this were the case, you would be getting the
behavior you are seeking.

See what is listed as options under TweakUI/Logon. If you prefer to Auto
Logon:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
