I removed some viruses etc, and did some kind of cleanup on my winxp2, but
now I've lost my calculator, and found a different link to paint, but not in
accessories.
My pc came preloaded with the xp software, but I have another disk, and it
still wont install the calculator.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks.

You could try going to C:\Windows\System32 Folder. Scroll down to
Calc.exe rt click and choose " send to desktop as shortcut " . Scroll down
further to mspaint.exe and do the same.

Thanks, but I don't have a system\32, not even hidden.
I had looked in c:\windows previously for the paint, but didn't find it.
I did find a link to it through some other program (open with), and created
a link to the startup menu, but still can't find it (or calc.exe) in the
windows.

Hi
It is not a system/32 folder, it is a system32 folder and you will find it
at C\Windows\System32.
Anyway, do a search for calc.exe and mspaint.exe and you will find them
wherever they are.

Bill

Tried all that. Guess I mispelled where I looked, but I did look in the
right place.
I do not have a C:\Windows\System32, but I do have a System folder in the
Windows folder.

When I found my mspaint, I looked at properties, and found it came from
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386, but there's no calculator there.
I've done a disk cleanup, and wonder if that's why these disappeared, but
now when I try to reinstall from the windows cd, it says the cd is older
than the version on the pc (probably cause the pc was preloaded, and the xp
cd I have is from the laptop.

OK try this.
Go to Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Progs/Add or Remove Windows
Components. Highlight Accessories and Utilities and click Details. Select
Accessories and click on Details. Calculator and Paint should be listed and
checked. If they are listed and not checked then check them and OK your way
out. If they are listed and checked you could try unchecking them and OK
your way out and then go back in and check them and OK your way out to re
install them.

Bill

Thanks, that worked.
I've done this before, but would recheck everylthing before I'd get out. Did
it your way and now everything's cool.

when I try to look at the previoius post with a suggestion about "lost
calcultor & paint, it's blank. What was the suggestion to solve your problem?
I keep deleting and reinstalling paint and it doesn't appear in accessories
NOR in Programs. It appears in Windows\System32. ??????

The reason you're having such problems is that you are using the web
interface to read this newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most
error-prone method there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a newsreader,
such as Outlook Express, which comes with Windows. See
