The user doesn't have administrator privileges, and the administrator
login requires a password which no one seems to know.
Thus I can't run msconfig.
Any idea how I can erase it for good?
Thanks

Thanks - I did do the 'properties' thing, but I don't remember seeing
the "desktop clean up wizard". I'll look again today, when I
re-visit.

Seems to be. I couldn't enter Control Panel to see.

If you right-click the desktop, properties, desktop, does it show in the
little model of the desktop?

I'll check later when I return to nursing home. My wife there
suddenly had to be taken back to a hospital so I am now busy
otherwise. Please be patient.

I stopped and took a quick look. Right click on desktop produces the
familiar 'display properties' window, in which of course you can alter
background, resolutions, etc. BTW, the little window says 'Google
Mobile'.
Back to hospital now - cya a little later.

I'm still trying to establish it isn't a small image that's somehow got
loaded as wallpaper. However, I don't think so now (though still worth
checking).

I don't think so. I scanned the wallpaper and background choices and
do not see that image anywhere. I think Google Mobile is the culprit
but I had nothing to do with that, nor can I seem to get rid of that
either. Probably because I do not have Admin privs. Oh well.
One possibility is that some comedian has incorporated this window as part
of the wallpaper. Since it isn't actually a window you can never close it.
