Changing which programs load and which do not

How do I change which application is run when I click on a
particular program file.

My HP 7110 printer runs Readiris 7.5 when it sends OCR to
my PC, but I have ReadIris 9.0 installed also, how do I
get the printer to use 9.0 and not 7.5?

The easy answer is to uninstall the older version of the program. But
for other conflicts, there is another fairly easy way to do this as
well.

Simply right-click on a file of the type you want to configure, select
"Open With" then click on "Choose Program...". When the dialog box
pops up, select the program you want to automatically open this type of
file with and check the box on the bottom that says, "Always use the
selected program to open this kind of file."

If the program you want to use is not listed, you can click the
"Browse" button to search for the executable file for the program you
want to use.
