Have a fairly new install of XP Pro SP3. As of today I've found that
with Outlook Express, I suddenly can't compose new messages in my main
identity. I can read and reply to messages, but if I try to compose OE
crashes. This doesn't happen with any of the other identities. Don't
think I've ever encountered this before.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Why don't you create a new identity and delete the old?

Since it's my primary identity, wondering what would happen if I did
that, if it would get "disconnected" as my primary identity. I have
all the .dbx files backed up with Outlook Express Quick Backup.

Definitely trying to avoid making things ever worse by guessing. Do
you know for sure this would work?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling OE, still had the same problem.

Try deleting Drafts.dbx from that account. It could be corrupted, and
should be recreated when needed.

If that [Elmo's advice] fails, simply try creating a new identity!

*NB You should export your Mail / News settings from OE first and also your
Address Book entries then import them to the new identity before deleting
the old one.

Sorry , did not see your earlier post stating that " tried uninstalling and
reinstalling OE, still had the same problem" - if you did that and still
had problems creating new mail - then the problem definitely goes beyond
OE!
