Cut and paste with Remote Desktop is failing, and causing crashes

It appears that when I am using Remote Desktop, cut and paste is
failing, both within the same window and between windows.

Has anyone come across this problem?

Windows XP what (both ends)?
Service pack on both ends?
Remote Desktop Client being used?
Video drivers updated from the manufacturer on both ends?
Network device drivers updated from the manufacturer on both ends?

And, for what it's worth, cut-and-paste using mouse or keyboard? And,
has this always happened, or just started happening? (If the latter,
what else have you done lately?)

Are you using a fully expanded remote window?

Are you trying to cut and paste from the remote window to the local window?
