I have just bought a laptop with Microsoft XP Home edition.
How do I set it up to connect to a Novell 3.12 server?

Thanks in advance

You will need to install the Netware client software that either comes with
Netware 3.12, Windows, or download it from the Novell site.

This will install the client software as well as the NWLink IPX/SPX
compatible protocol.

Also, please be careful of the cross posting to newsgroups. It will upset a
lot of users.

Sorry about cross posting, but I wasn't sure which was the best group.

Where do I get the client software please?

Beat me to it. Yes, Novell's web site has all the client software you need.

I would recommend that you try the Microsoft Novell client first. If that
provides all the functionality you need then that's that.

I have seen horrific stability problems with Novell's own offering.

I personally use the Novell client daily on Windows 95, Windows 98, NT 4.0,
W2K and XP Pro. I never have any problems.

Greetings --

How odd. On our network of several hundred WinNT workstations & roughly
150 Win9x laptops, the Novell client is the only one that can be counted
upon to provide a stable, reliable connection. The Microsoft offering has
proven terribly unreliable.

Maybe it has improved. My experience of it dates from three years ago.
