Tricky problem.
I have just built a new PC. I've got a copy of Windows XP Professional but
it won't boot properly (I know why - let's just say I didn't pay much for
it). The only way to do it seems to be to copy the contents of the CD to a
hard drive and install it from there.

I went through this process last night - I did it by taking the HDD out of
the new PC, installing it in the old PC and setting up XP from there. All
went well.

However when I put the HDD back into the new PC all I get on startup is
"NTLDR is missing - please press ctrl-alt-del to reboot"

I have read that sys c: is the way to fix this but it doesn't work. The
only boot disks I have are Windows 95 and Windows 98 which don't seem to be
able to see the drive at all. I know it's there though because my old PC can
see it fine - and all the files are there too.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a simple fix to this problem, i.e. is
there something simple I can do to make the new PC boot up from this hard
drive?

Thanks very much,

Alan.
