I have done a msbackup of a directory using windows98 but I do not see a
corresponding windowsXP restore command to bring the directory and files
over. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Did you use Win98's native backup program? If so, the file it creates is not
compatible with anything native to WinXP. You need to recover the file on a
Win98 system or used a program that is compatible with the file created.

Try downloading and installing the trialware version of Orlogix Backup MyPC
on your Windows XP system to restore a backup made on the Windows 98 system.

Harry

Will that program read Win 98 backup files?.. I don't have anything on which
to try it, but it would certainly save ex Win 98 users tracking down an old
machine to recover backups.. I must make a note..

Hi Mike. Yes it will read and restore .QIC backups. I've installed it on XP
and used it successfully with backups created by both Windows 98 and Windows
Me Backup programs.

You're welcome. It is important to use the trialware version distributed by
Orlogix and not the version distributed by Stomp. It seems that the Stomp
version stripped the ability to do out of the trialware version. However the
retail version does restore .QIC files. The Orlogix trialware works fine.

I knew about BUMPC being able to handle qic files. Did not know the
difference between Stomp's trial version and the one from Orlogix. Thanks
for the info, Harry!
