I like the arial rounded font for its clarity, but am unable to find it in
my XP-pro (SP1), so what happened to it? Why isn't it included with XP? Can
it be downloaded from Microsoft? I've looked around the XP support pages,
but can find no mention about additional fonts for XP. Was Arial rounded
perhaps never a standard Windows font, but one I had downloaded from
somewhere else? Does anyone know if it's supposed to be available in XP?

Greetings --

I have an "Ariel Rounded MT Bold (TrueType)" font on WinXP Pro,
but I can say whether it was native to WinXP, or if it might have come
with Office, Visio, or some other application.

List of default fonts with Windows 98 does not list Arial Rounded. If you had
it installed it would have come with some other App or you downloaded it.

I have Arial rounded MT bold font and it must have come with Win XP Home
edition. Can't we just send this too you without breaking any legal rules?
It can't be very large.

In news:%236jBsW3...@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl,

Thanks for the offer,
I don't know the copyright rules concerning MS Windows fonts, but I wouldn't
want anybody to risk breaking any copyrights on my behalf.
I think it's very strange that the fonts in the XP pro and home versions,
are not identical, however
I guess my previous version of Ariel Rounded, must probably have come with
some application, since when I search for it on Google, only some horribly
expensive, commercial versions are found. ($115.20 for the whole Ariel
Rounded family - regular - bold - italic - bold italic) from Agfa Monotype.
And with prices like that there are probably some pretty strict copyright
rules around, too.
Best regards
Trond Ruud,
Norway

Why did it "must have come with Win XP Home Edition".

Do you have a list of default fonts installed with Win XP?

Just curious. I would appreciate a link to the list like the one I posted for
Win 98.

Thanks, Gord

In news:9eur5097ihi5mv49n...@4ax.com,

Gord,
I've searched the XP support pages, but can't find a list of the fonts
included.
If you wish I can mail you a list of the fonts in my XP -pro
c:\windows\fonts, however

Arial Rounded Bold is located on the Microsoft Office Professional (Standard
& SBE also?) CD in the VALUPACK\MSFONTS folder. It's file name is
ARLRDBD.TTF and is 40K in size.

I guess I was wrong about it being in WinXP. According to the post above, it
must have come with Microsoft Office or some such program.

A handy URL to have to track down which MS product added which font:
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/default.aspx

This particular font was included with: Office 4.3 Professional, Picture
It! 2000, Picture It! 2002, Picture It! 99

If you still own the software and would use it - install it. The font will
be added. Or you may be able to find the font as a free standing file on
the installation media. Copy it to your hard drive and then install the
font (Font folder, File> Install Font).

Arial Rounded MT Bold
family variant - Arial Rounded MT Bold version 1.51 for Windows
created by - Robin Nicholas
font vendor - Agfa Monotype Corporation

other versions - 1.00, 1.50
products - Office 4.3 Professional, Picture It! 2000, Picture It! 2002, Picture It! 99

About the font

This font is a development of the widely used and versatile Arial typeface. Rounding the ends of the strokes imparts a very different feel to the typeface, especially in the heavier weights, where the rounding is more apparent. You'll find Arial Rounded MT Bold more informal than its Arial counterpart.
