Folder Options> General: Select old fashioned "double click" (my favorite)
vs the default single click. Or if you like single click, remove the check
next to "select items when I point to them."
Note that sometimes the drivers for mouse and touchpad will add similar
options. If this is the case, the settings will need to be adjusted there
as well. The mouse/touchpad settings may be integrated with Control Panel>
Mouse or you may need to open a separate window. If a separate object, it
should be in Control Panel and/or Start> Programs
And finally, if using a "tweak" program, again look for and disable any
mouse hover/select settings. For example, in TweakUI for XP there the
settings are found under "x-mouse"
