I have upgraded to a new Laptop, when installing Money 99 (OK I know it's
Old) I get a message that "ordinal 6467 could not be located in the dynamic
link library mfc42.dll" I searched the Microsoft web and found help regarding
this error, but! the fix was to uninstall Money 99 and rename the mfc42.dll
files to mfc42.old which i did, after reinstalling Money 99 I still get the
same error message.... can someone help?

Did you not state that the fix was to uninstall Money 99? Why did you then
try a re-install?

The fix was to uninstall Money, change all the mfc42.dll files to mcf42.old
except the one in system 32 and reinstall Money. done that but the same error
comes up and hangs, requiring the program to be shut down with the aid of
task manager.

Try reinstalling the program using the Compatibility Wizard.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>Program Compability Wizard.

I thank both Jerry and Byte for their suggestions, might I add that I had one
heck of a lot of data going back many years in this edition of MC$ 99. My old
laptop was something Noah still remembers and had slowed down from constant
virus cleanups. Prepararing for an extended trip abroad it was time to invest
in the latedt top of the range notebook and with 5 days to D-Day I was
getting desperate. Having read all the gripes the others are having with
compatability with MC$ 2006 and the pop up ads, that was not the option, I
had to get old 99 to work and finaly did. Pretty proud of myself considering
I am a BBC (Born before computers) here is how I did it and I hope it will be
a benefit to some other poor honest-and-loyal-to-Micrsoft long-gone-forgotten
customer.
First I opened the command prompt from accessories and entered;
cd c:\windows\system32
Then I entered;
rename mfc42.dll mfc42.old
then enter;
exit
Next open windows explorer and go to Windows, look for System32 and go find
the mfc42.old file. Copy it and drop it in the Money folder, you now have one
file called mfc42.dll and one called mfc42.old. Delete the mfc42.dll and
rename the mfc42.old to mfc42.dll and that WORKED!
