8004002 is not a valid error code as each one contains 8 characters.
Was this the error code ? :

Do you have a Download Manager software installed?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832489 ignore the title but follow the
steps mentioned under "Cause" and "Workaround" of the MSKB article.

Error message when you try to install updates by using the Windows
Update or Microsoft Update Web site: "0x80004002"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956708

" Error code 0x80004002 is triggered when registry keys for Wups2.dll
are missing. This error code may also be triggered when additional keys
are missing. By registering the Windows Update file and the other .dll
files that are listed in Method 1, you make sure that any additional
keys are also registered. "

Do Method 1 and use the steps for the Version of Windows that is
installed. Seemingly, Vista is, but since you did not post which version
of Windows, we're just going by the error code.

"laweda80",

29 months after the question was asked (and answered by the original poster)
you throw your hat into the ring. ;-)

Here's the conversation you responded to:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsupdate/browse_frm/thread/cf30d5ed3cd77b6c/

I know Suddenlink sells better speeds. ;-)

Hope that helps!
