I keep getting an error code when trying to install updates prompted by the
HP Advisor. the error code is 80070570 and the message is that windows
encountered an unknown error. I just purchased this computer two days ago.
what is up with this?

Is it a brand-new computer or a used/reconditioned computer (and did you buy
it at Best Buy)?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

I have the same problem, it's a custom built computer. I have McAfee as my
anti virus. The subscription is current. No spyware applications.

There was McAfee Plus and then I went and installed the other version of
McAfee from the website, should I remove one of them?

Assuming your original McAfee VirusScan Plus subscription (or free trial
period) had not expired prior to installing McAfee VirusScan (or Security
Center or Internet Security), see if this McAfee three-step fix resolves the
problem: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

If you need further assistance, please begin a new thread about your
specific problem and computer. State your IE version and full Windows
version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2; Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2;
Win7; Win7 64-bit) in your first post. Thank you.
