My friend running MS XP has the Blaster virus. He could
not stay logged on long enough to download the patch. I
downloaded the patch to a disk and copied it to his
computer. Also tried deleting the infected files using
McAfee and they would not delete. He still cannot stay
logged on and the virus scan is showing the lovsan virus
is still there.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the virus
completely out and get on with life?
Thanks.

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

I've had two friends get the virus who experienced the
same problem as your friend. Have you looked all through
the www.symantec.com web site for different ways to
remove the virus rather than by downloading the removal
tool? I know there are ways to do it manually that do
not involve being logged onto the web. Also they talk
about ways to stay logged on: go to this web site and try
the dofferent options.
