hello. my name is Phil. i have this problem with vista since 2 weeks. i try
every day to get my computer updated. nothing. please someone help???????????

The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows Vista, or you receive an error
message that includes the following code when you try to use Windows Update: "0x80073712"

hi again. i followed your advise and i went to the microsoft support but when
i execute the instructions finaly it sais if i want to delete the number of
store dity. i answer yes and then it sais that "it wasn't able to find the

Try this: in the search box of Start, type "winsxs". Open the directory, find
the file "pending.xml" and change it properties clicking on advanced. Give
the user total control. Apply and accept. In doing this, the file can be
deleted. Once you've done, install the Windows Update Agent. I did it and
worked, without rebooting the machine. Others recommend to reboot the
machine, and then manually install the WUA 3.0 downloadable from here:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
