After several failures trying to get WinXPSP1 to complete
using the express update over a slow dial-up, I ordered
the SP1 CD and tried to apply the service pack from CD.

I chose not to do the backup of the system, because I am
expecting to have to restore to the original image of my
hard drive from when I bought the computer in Nov-2002.

After several hours the it stopped and the Win XP Service
Pack 1 Setup Wizard dialog window reads - At the top -
Message = "Updating your system" &
just above the progress indicator which shows approx 40%
Message = "Fininshing installation" &
at the bottom of the dialog window in the details box the
message is "Running processes after install"

Is there something I can do to get the update to finish,
so I don't have to restore the OS back to the start?

Thanks
Leonard
