You must use Microsoft Internet Explorer to access
the Windows Update website and download/install the
updates. Or use Help & Support Center (WinKey+F1)
with the Pick a Task > ...Windows update

recovered from it by turning
off "Check for server certificate revocation." option in
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced. There must be
some kind of update server interaction over SSL that is
invisible to the end user.
