Could this be failing because although most of my Office products are 2003
but I have Visio 2007 trial? Thhe trial has not yet expired.

You have 2 choices:
1) Open the Application event log and look for Error under Type, with
the Source being MsiInstaller. Double click on Error to see if an error
code is present.
2) Contact MS for no-charge support since both updates are Security ones:
