I have an XP machine that shows 100% CPU usage in task manager and spoolsv.exe is the process using 96-98% of this. This of course slows the machine down considerably until the process is terminated, but that means no print spooler. Is there a fix?

This is probably spyware. Do a search on winupd.exe and you should find
lots of info on removal. Or go to the virus newsgroup
