Windows Update is Disable

Hi
I am getting he following error when enabling the window update servces.

"Error 1058 : The services can not be started , either because it is disabe
or because it has no device associated with it"
My system is badly hit by spyware 2008 XP and other malware and I am not
able to remove it.
please help and sggest

Rajeev, you won't get very far with WU until your system is cleaned.

The error code you posted plus the disabling of the Automatic Updates
service is an indication that a malware known as Vundo\Virtumonde is
present. Suggest you use Internet Explorer and go here for a system
scan: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-au/center/howsafe.htm

There will be other malware present, too. If the scanner can not remove
them all suggest you post to a reputable anti-malware forum for
assistance. Please read the guidelines of the forum of your choice

go to control panel administrator options, services and on automatic updates
make it automatic and then click on start
