Update #976749 at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;976749 offers a
download for IE8 not IE6 when you click on the link for IE6 for XP SP2 and
SP3. It leads to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e2121af9-92db-40e3-a848-f73564670f41&displaylang=en
which clearly states that the download is for IE8.

So, where is the IE6 download page?

An update is available for Internet Explorer that resolves issues that
occur after you apply security update 974455 (MS09-054)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976749

From the above page, the " Download the Windows XP Service Pack 2 and
Windows XP Service Pack 3 package now " link for IE6 goes to:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=6756a74f-cadb-4b63-85f4-02676f913e90

Which states that's it's for
> System Requirements
>
> * Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Service Pack 2; Windows XP Service Pack 3
>
> This update applies to Internet Explorer 6 with the following operating systems:
>
> * Windows XP SP2
> * Windows XP SP3

Perhaps it was just a misdirected link when you tried it.

Thanks. I see it is fixed. The title doesn't mention IE8 as it did
yesterday. I downloaded it yesterday and it was for IE8 so Microsoft has
fixed the link.
