I recently downloaded the Windows update (automatic update) today, after the
update, it doesn't allow me to save any file, in Office or send any e-mails.

I am also having that problem. I'm not sure if it is because of the update
or not, i have Vista. When I open outlook and can recieve and read emails
but I cant compose or send, and in word and all the other programs I can open
docs but cant make changes or save. I'm not sure what type of computer you
have but if it is Vista I have been told to make sure that I have the
original internet security installed on it. I made the mistake of deleting
Norton, which was on it when I bought it, and trying to use another program.
The guy I talked to said that I needed to put Norton back on because it never
really is deleted from the computer and it attacks any other security
software in the background. He said that it would eventually lockup my
computer...which basically it has. So i am going to put Norton back on. If
this isnt your problem you might just need to uninstall one of the recent
updates.

Thanks Michelle, I had to reinstall the whole XP, I tried different methods
nothing worked sadly. It was frustrating, but I had to reinstall. Now it is
working fine, hate to download the next update of Microsoft.

I have installed SP1 for Vista enterprise and also the updates for
Office(11)-2007. Now I cant save.
Strange that before the update this feature was this was included..I assume
that Microsoft Engineers have discovered an alternative method for saving
files.. (Wifi to the cortex of the brain or something..and have neglected to
tell the customers) or there may be some line of code to add to the registry
as they they were too busy buying Yahoo to bother adding themselves!

This also affects Open Office also. It appears that Microsoft Vista has
finally become so secure will not accept files any longer! Maybe the most
secure Yet!
If anyone out there has some brilliant ideas (Microsoft or the public) and
has a few moments away from their Xbox and Pizza'a to offer a few suggestions
I will be willing to give it a try.
Otherwise its a format and XP install for me... That fruit company seems to
have Office running without this issue????
