I have been taged with the WGA virus no less than six times.
I have found the only sulution is to turn off windows update.
When I spoke to customer support they first treated me like a crook than
after using up my free tries for support I found that even when the Microsoft
website said it was a genuine copy it still kept swowing that it wasn't.
I still have the WGA virus waiting to unleach its destructive force on my
computer.
What if anything can I do to kill this?
Norton say it is a windows problem and windows say it is a anti-virus problem.
And so on and so on....
I wish someone would step up and just fix the problem.

Please repost your inquiry in the WGA troubleshooting forum.

Follow this diagnostic troubleshooting procedure:

1. Download and run the MGA Diagnostic Tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click
on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard".

3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the
"WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the
results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post.
http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25

4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and
recommend an appropriate solution.

You haven't heard? It's the recently released virus from Microsoft that
magically turns people's "legitimate" Windows licenses into blocked VLK's.
Annoying little sucker. ; )

What's worse, it's still in BETA.

I downloaded the Windows Genuine Advantage tool KB905474 about a week ago as
it was a recommended update, however after reading the EULA I decided not to
install it (as it can't be uninstalled and because my copy of XP home though
genuine was preinstalled at manufacturers Iqon and I don't have a disk).
This is what I want to know: How do I get rid of the WGA even though I
haven't installed it yet?
Every time I boot up, I am informed that "updates are waiting to be
installed" I hope this makes sense and is not too long winded.

Simply click on "Decline" when the EULA appears, then choose "do not show
this update again". You do not need a "hack" to do this.

Thank You Carey, I have not yet done this, but it sounds like you know what
you are on about. I will try it the next time I boot up and the message
appears
