Hello,

Prior to SP2 I was able to turn off Automatic Updates without any problems.
Now that I have SP2 installed the computer displays a balloon with the
following message every time I turn the computer on:

Automatic Updates is turned off.

Click this balloon to fix this problem.

However, when I click the balloon the only option that I get is to turn
Automatic Updates on. There is no way that I can see to fix the problem -
which is this stupid balloon popping up every time the computer starts.

How do I make the balloon and the little shield disappear permanently??

Thank you,
Brian

Control Panel/Security Center, left hand side, "change how the Security
Center informs me ..." Untick Auto Update.

May I ask why you (want to) disable Automatic Updates, Brian?

Do you know that there are Automatic Updates options other than
"Automatically download and install updates"?
